Jim held several executive positions in the strategic planning and quality improvement departments at Marriott International Corporation before becoming a consultant. He has degrees in mathematics and physics from Florida Southern University.

- Both authors of Resilient Leadership for Turbulent Times. Jerry Patterson is the author of ten nationally recognized books and numerous articles on leadership and resilience. In his more than 30 years of experience as an educator, he has served as a superintendent, and most recently, professor of leadership studies at University of Alabama at Birmingham. Goorge Goens is a consultant with public and private sector organizations on leadership selection, development, and assessment. He has written three books and has published over 55 articles on leadership, change, and education in professional journals and the mass media on leadership.
