Leadership and Self-Deception Getting Out of the Box

Three of the best hours you can spend! Through conversations and stories, the business novel is a fast read because the points are lively and clearly articulated. The book outlines eight practices that leaders can implement to increase both bottom-line company results and their own ability to influence and inspire others: From looking for your own blind spots (and not those of others) to focusing on how you are helping others (instead of worrying if others are helping you). The authors point to that the problems we have with others — whether it be performance or personality based — often stems from our own needs to be virtuous. We sometimes fall into a trap of blaming others in order to justify our sentiments toward them (coined: self-betrayal and self-deception in the book). As such, we may provoke in others the very behavior we do not like in them; and they then provoke in us, the very behavior they do not like in us. The content may seem "soft"; however, the way the authors tie it back to "hard" results is highly impactful and practical. Buy it.
