Don't be misled by the title, this article is great for anyone who is leading and not just CEOs. The authors do a great job of explaining the seven surprises. They provide stories and examples to bring the concepts to life. While the seven surprises are not new to those familiar with leadership and management theories, they are practical reminders. For example, the authors provide warning signs that a leader may be trying too hard to please shareholders if management incentives are disproportionately tied to stock price. Additionally, for those leaders who insist on running the company, warning signs include being in too many meetings and involved with too many tactical decisions. Buy it.
