This article identifies the difference between an experienced executive coach who knows how to offer great solutions to busy executives versus a novice coach who may not be prepared to deliver results. Executive coaching is not a cheap engagement; therefore, organizations want to make sure they are getting the return on investment that they are looking for when hiring a coach. A great executive coach can be monumental in helping retain top talent, but a bad coach can be detrimental to an organization. How do you know when you have run into a bad coach? This article outlines three major signs of a bad coach: 1.) They have no clear process for the coaching engagement, 2.) They do not have business acumen and do not speak the same language of the company, and 3.) They don't know when it is appropriate to lead and/or match the style of the coachee. It's a great resource to anyone who is interested in coaching and wants some tips and strategies on how to find a great coach. Read it.
